    Immersive Percussion Theater - Moon Side

    Thoughts flash in an instant, day turns to night. All things reincarnate as the seasons take turns. From the perspective of "the life experience of a seed", A Day engages the audience in a philosophical conversation about the unity of opposites to express "a moment and eternity" and pursue the days twelve flowing segments of time - in order to penetrate the mysterious, liminal nature of things: between daybreak and twilight, wilting and growth, joy and sorrow. In terms of composition, Moon Side combines traditional elements of Chinese music and the creative approach of French spectral music to create a unique dialogue that breaks the boundaries of space and time, in which percussive beats speak to the friction of strings. Simultaneously, digital media merges the unreal into reality, harmonizing movement and stillness, synchronizing lights and shadow, immersing the audience between "moment" and "eternity".Conceptual Photography Shanghai Lixia Culture and Art Development Co., Ltd. Wang MengComposer Wang Meng is an alumni of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing for her Bachelors Degree, mentored by professor Wenchen Qin, the Vice President of CCOM. She earned her Masters Degree at Manhattan School of Music, studied with Dr. Reiko Fting. Wang is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in composition at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) under the guidance of Dr. Douglas Knehans. She has also received instructions from composer Derek Bermel, Andreia Pinto Correia, Pierre Jalbert, and Kaija Saariaho. Wang is described as "methodically expanding the initial texture to create a kaleidoscopic range of orchestral colors," and "shaping amorphous cosmic rhythms...in a grippingly harmoniously manner" (Schmopera). Her music has been performed by many notable orchestras and ensembles, including Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, American Composers Orchestra, Cabrillo Festival Orchestra; Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, Thin Edge New Music Collective, Long Leash Trio, F- Plus Ensemble, among many others. Wangs music was programmed at the Aspen Music Festival, Cabrillo Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, ACO EarShot readings, and Beijing Modern Music Festival. She was also invited to Grafenegg Festival (Austria) Ink Still Wet Composer Conductor Workshop and [tactus] International Young Composers Forum in Belgium. In 2019, she started the chamber project dominated with percussions named Moon-Faced Buddha, which had its premiere on Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in-Chamber concert series.

    Music and New-Media - Vibration of the Heavens

    Vibration of the Heavens focuses on all kinds of "Extensive-organism" in the dimension of urban space-time: air, water, light, radio, dust, buildings, crowd, traffic, social media... From the perspective of people living in metropolis, the piece pays attention to the living conditions of themselves and all things around them, explores the relationship between people and their living environment. Using piano and interactive electronic music to form narrative clues of sound, and extend to different new media artistic elements. The pianist is the initiator of audio/visual perception, the whole theatre space acts as the projection medium. Three sections named Light, Shadow and Image are played continuously, which are shown as follows: the ever-changing of a single thing; the pluralistic relationship between things and the reflection of human beings; the shape of human beings is derived from the shape of everything. Grateful for this present media age to achieving the extension of music and the transcendence of sound over hearing. Applying the artistic language belonging to this age to arouse peoples confused feelings and establish a keen connection between the past and the future. Looking downward, we are small in the modern metropolis, shining all things with the light of sound. Xu ZhiboXu Zhibo, composer, PHD, associate professor of Shanghai Normal University Music College, director of Shanghai Computer Music Association, outstanding young scholar of SNU. Graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, he studied successively with Professor Zhou Xianglin, Chen Qiangbin and Yang Liqing. His works involves various types and genres, some of them won a lot of awards for music creation at home and abroad. He is currently engaged in the teaching of composing and music theory courses, and devotes himself to theoretical research in contemporary music, sonic art, new-media art and other fields. He has presided over the theoretical research projects of the NSSFC (Art), the Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of Ministry of Education of China, the Shanghai Art-Science Planning, the Shanghai School Art Research and the Research Institute of SHCM. His academic achievements mainly focus on the core issues of contemporary music and media art, confronting the development track and trend of sound theory, technology and mix-media. As an author, more than 20 papers have been published in journals and conferences around the world. As a speaker, he was invited to attend international academic conferences held in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Taiwan, China. He has formed an research mechanism supported by cooperation between theory and practice.

    Music Theatre - Overlord

    Music theatre Overlord is inspired by two traditional Chinese music masterpieces for instrument Pipa - Ambush on All Sides and King Doffs His Armor. Based on historical facts, Overlord portrays Chinese warlord Xiang Yu with music scores, exploring his inner world via different chapters. Unlike other film and traditional Chinese opera adaptations, Overlord does not focus on retelling the story but tries to walk into the overlords utter innocence despite ups and downs; his emotions sympathized by the human kind regardless of cultural background or time. Yu BingYu Bing is a young Pipa player of Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. He is the founder and art director of Yue Zhi Yuan Orchestra as well. Yu Bing was born in a family of musicians, and started to learn Pipa at six years old. Yu Bing attended elementary school and secondary school that are attached to Shanghai Conservatory of Music; he later graduated from the same university. In 1998, he was admitted to Shanghai Chinese Orchestra and became the first Pipa player in that year. Yu Bing has a solid foundation in skills; his performance is powerfully emotional, and his personal style is very appealing. For this reason, Yu Bing won the highest award for outstanding performance in "Shanghai Spring International Music Festival", second prize of "Tianhua Cup" National Youth Pipa competition, Gold Record of 2015 in Japan and so on. In the following years, Yu Bing has been bold in trying cross-border cooperation and promoting Pipa playing and Chinese traditional cultures. Yu Bing has cooperated with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Opera House, Liza Wang, Ye Xiaogang, and Zahiram Dodo, etc. Yu Bing has been invited to participate in New Year Concert at Vienna Golden Hall, Prague Spring Festival, French tour of Shanghai World Expo leadership team, Les Années Chine-France, Aichi World Expo, Latin America Music Festival, 10th anniversary celebration of Hong Kongs return and 5th anniversary Macaos return. He has performed all over the world.

    Multimedia Concert - The Unknown Enlightenment

    YIN5 prompts a contemporary conversation between the refined traditional music and a new spirit. The collaboration between electronic music and the traditional Chinese flute, in addition to the stage design under the assistance of new media visual technology, is to create a brand-new acoustic experience and to reflect the perception of the contemporary generation. The humanistic expression of the Chinese flute dubs the string section. A novel visual and acoustic performing experience for the performers and the reception of the audience are thus generated under the electronic synthesized sound. The on-site matrix of mirrors are arranged to refer to the wooden stage floor from the ancient times. They are in a way turned into the remains coming from the Other World. They are ready to be awakened anytime. The variety of mirrors simulates the cracks of the time and space. As the flue changes, the mirrors begin to twist between reality and the virtuality in form of color and motion graphics, resembling the scattered memories. All the elements are waken up with the organic tunes. The door of the Other World has opened. The matrix of the Nature has also arrived as it is called upon. YIN5 is an experimental site. It is also a platform where the dreamers with shared ambitions (YIN 5 Ren) exploring the emotional status of the current generation as well as the possibility of artistic expressions. YIN5In the winter of 2011, the "Yinwu" project emerged out of the shared ambition of several musicians and artists to explore a new form of Chinese music. Their interest lay in defining an approach to contemporary music that would maintain a distinctive oriental taste. The concept was simple; with the notion of creating a laboratory-style platform, this group of like-minded people came together with the aim of synthesizing Chinese flute and electronic music, and achieving something new and original. In Mandarin Chinese, "Yin" refers to one of the themes in music, equivalent to a prelude. "Wu" is understood here as a transliteration for the number five, which also refers to the five notes used in ancient Chinese music. "Yinwu" is thus a means of injecting new life into ancient music, of endowing it with a new spirit by bringing it into dialogue with the contemporary context. The meeting of electronic music and Chinese flute on stage is given a visual value through the use of moving image sequences that complete the auditory experience. "Yinwu" is a dynamic experiment with sound and vision.

    New Music Theatre - A Hunger Artist

    A Hunger Artist adapted from the German novelist Kafkas short story Der Hungerknstler is a project of the genre contemporary new music theatre. A Hunger Artist divides the original novel into five scenes. It depicts "hunger art", which was very popular in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, from the perspective of starry hunger artist. The artist is sitting in a cage exhibiting his art by proving in public how long he can stay without food for some weeks – showing his capability to resist hunger. The cast of A Hunger Artist consists of a theatre actor and an ensemble for flute, cello, Saxophone, percussion and piano. The musicians also take part in the performance process exhibiting at the same time both their role as actors and musicians. Compared to musical theatre and opera in contemporary new music theatre initiated by German-Argentin composer Mauricio Kagel musicians become also some kind of actor during the performance of a piece. In addition, music functions not only as expression or for creating an atmosphere it becomes also "theatre". Therefore, the composer is not only in charge of the works sound part but also for the script and stage effects. Another feature of this new music theatre piece is its multimediality. Multimediality is achieved by combining real-time instrumental performance and theatre performance as well as preset and real-time video to scaffold and extend the audiences three-dimensional stage mood to a multi-level sense experience. Song YangSong Yang (1985 - ), doctoral student of composition in Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, study with Prof. Guoping Jia.; student of Konzertexamen at the the Kölner Hochschule fr Musik und Tanz in the class of Prof. Johannes Schöllhorn; PhD candidate of systematic musicology at University of Cologne with supervisor Univ.-Prof. Dr. Uwe Seifert. She was awarded the Scholarship from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in 2015 and Fu Chengxian Memorial Scholarship in 2016. She got the Commission of the Young Artist Project from China Art Foundation in 2015, and the commission from the American Juilliard School Focus Festival in 2017; she got the 3rd prize of 2017 Vareler Kompositionspreis in Germany, 1st prize of 2015 Singapore Ding Yi Music Companys (DYMC) Composition Prize, 1st prize of The 2nd Voice of China Composition Competition and so on. In the year of 2015, she got the commission of one orchestration piece by the Young Creative Artist Funded Project from China National Art Foundation. Her pieces including Orchestration, chamber music, electronic music, dance drama and so on, were performed in 2017 Kammermusiktage am Vareler Hafen, 2017 KISD parcours Cologne, 2016 New Music Week of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Ferneyhoughs composition workshop of 2016 Darmstadt 48th Internationale Ferienkurse fr neue Musik, 2015 Beijing Modern Music Festival and so on, used to work with Berlin Kairos-Quartett, Con Tempo Ensemble Beijing, Israel Contemporary Players, Holland Nieuw Ensemble.

    Chorus Divertimento - The Drowning Sunset

    Smelling, merging unobtrusively in the warm whisper of an idle breeze, twinkling around the fresh ornament of the sparkling cherry, and lingering on the orbicular rest of the day lily, serves as a memory of this world in our daily life. The Drowning Sunset tells a story of nostalgia and remembrance. Moreover, this is just as what ZeYa is featured of; different chapters are sequenced by elements in the 24 solar terms, forming a subtle, poetic redolence. The Drowning Sunset is composed of four chapters, and each chapter consists of two pieces: The Sail; The Garlanded Coast; Flying Whales in the Clouds; The Rain at Night. The suite tells a utopian fantasy in the first-person narrative, which is com-posed of four chapters, corresponding to four different emotions and tastes. It begins when our leading character is in his childhood, taken by his parents to an uninhabited island with their puppy, and then starts a new life there. (Chapter 1) With the surrounds of natural landscapes and wildlife on the island, he grows up, full of curiosity and confusion about the outside world. (Chapter 2) As time goes by, his family are all dead, leaving him alone, looking forward to the second coming of the good old days. "When there should emerge the sunset from all sides on the island, all of us would be back." Said his parents. (Chapter 3) And then there comes to the end, the lonely aged man lies in the twilight light, simple and unaffected. Where did he go? Where should the sunset glow? In every drip of rain and breeze of wind, from all sides we know. (Chapter 4) Jin ChengzhiBorn in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, 1987, the young composer and conductor. Chengzhi Jin, is currently working as the Rainbow Chamber Singers.

    Chamber Concerto - Spacetime continuum Pro et Contra

    Spacetime continuum Pro et Contra is a chamber work written for an ensemble of 13 musicians. The instrumentation of the work is similar to that of a chamber symphony in the 20th century (each section of the orchestra is represented by one instrument); the relationship between the instruments is similar to that of a Baroque concerto (harpsichord, Violin I & II and oboe as solo instruments and the other nine as accompaniment). The harpsichord functions as an important solo instrument, but is also part of the accompaniment. The super traditional style of the work aims for an aesthetic that is the specialization of time. The structure of the work is like that of a traditional concerto (three movements in fast: slow-fast relationship). The thematic material of the first movement embodies exoticism and Baroque style. Contrasting the dramatic recitative first movement, the second movement is an elegy. The third movements tempo is similar to that of a Toccata, while the texture is somehow incidental. The complex rhythm and irregular phrasing give an impression of a constantly pausing and skipping grammophon. This is a work that shakes the balance between space and time. It is inspired by the conversation between the European musical language and Oriental musical traditions. The Baroque concerto style merges with the 20th century chamber symphony structure. Dai BoHe is a doctoral candidate in composition at the China Central Conservatory of Music. Dai Bo was born in 1988 in China. At the age of five, he turned blind due to an illness. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate in composition of Prof. Xiaogang Ye at the China Central Conservatory of Music.His works Charm of Beijing Opera for accordion solo was selected as an obligatory piece for the 2010 Harbin International Accordion Competition, and was greatly acclaimed in Lithuania the following year.In 2012, Dai Bo was invited to participate in the Warsaw Autumn Festival in Poland, where his Illusion Butterfly was performed for the first time by the ONM Orchestra, conducted by Szymon Bywalec. In the same year, he won a significant prize at the Singapore International Composition Competition.In 2013, he became a fellow composer of The Intimacy of Creativity 2013 Composers Meet Performers in Hong Kong. On April 28th, the violinist Cho-Liang Lin and Dai Bo performed his work Kong Gu You Lan (for violin and piano) at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre.His orchestra piece Invisible Mountain won second prize in the national competition held by Ludwig van Beethoven Association in November 2014. In January 2015, he visited Poland and Norway to join the first round of performance of Orkiestry Akademii Beethovenowskiej and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk.The original mini dance drama Reflection was performed in China National Centre for the Performing Arts in May 2015.In December 2015, his Wojskis Hom Concerto commissioned by ICM, premiered in Warsaw by Sinfonia Varsovia. Krzysztof Penderecki gave high evaluation, he considered Dai Bo is the one of the most talent Chinese young composers.On March 2016 his piano recital performance The art of Fugue and his own pieces Disappeared Landscapes in Forbidden City Concert Hall. Other works: Book of Sand for violin and piano, Before the Rain for accordion, violin, clarinet and Vibraphone, etc.The new album GU JIA YE, that of the music of north Chinas nomads played on cello, published on July 2016.

    Music·Theatre - Folding City

    Folding City was a Sci-fi musical-theatrical work adapted from Ma Haipings electronic music album in 2016. Fast mechanical pulses and sparkling composite sounds construct the grandeur of a future metropolitan: floating, evolving, complicated, infinite, hopeful and dynamic. The magnificent atmosphere is a combination of sci-fi and reality, which makes the audience think of Manifesto of Futurism written by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti a hundred years ago. The expectations and anxieties of people in todays society about the future, together with the various details and texture of future cities, are all presented in this work that discusses post-modern social issues. Folding City features both realism and a sense of nativeness. Ma HaipingMa Haiping(MHP), is awarded the 4th and 5th Abilu Music Awards, The best electronic artist. During the past 14 years, his music covers the avant-garde music, experimental,　electronic dance music, soundtrack for visual arts and contemporary dance, etc. No matter from the music genre or the production technic, he is a epitome of the development of Chinese electronic music scene. MHP is called "The son of Shanghai techno" for his music revealed a unique sense of screen and science fiction imagery. In recent years, he actively promoting the avant-garde music culture of China, organizing international exchange performances and academic lectures. The vinyl record <The Chiniese Connection > released by Cratesavers International in 2012 and <Crepuscular Rays> released by Night Vision Records in 2013 make him the first Chinese electronic musician who releases his own records in the cradle of Techno, Album <Folding Traces> is released by D Force Records in 2016 April.

    In the dream alike story of "Rencontre between Debussy and Du Liniang", Debussy sees the ancient Chinese legendary figure Du Liniang, whom seeks the freedom to love. She gives up her life for the loved-one she missed, yet resurrected for the loved-one she found. Along with Du Liniangs journey, two masterful artforms rencontre, one of the most rewarding and ancient Chinese music drama KUNQU opera and Claude Debussys piano music. This communication graefully depicts that Love, is a shared desire cross culture and the power of love resonates within everyone. This site-specific music theatre aims to recontextualised the connection between performance and expression of eastern and western culture through-out time, genre and gender. lt celebrates a transcultural influence that we all share in the current era. Gu JietingGu Jieting is a classical pianist. She graduated from Conservatoire National Superieur de la Music de Paris with a master s degree in Piano and a DFS (Diplome de Formation Suprieure) in Piano and Chamber Music Praised as "the envoy of the Silk Road on the black and white keys Gu has been invited internationally to perform at major music festivals. In2014, Gu is awarded as an "Outstanding Talent of Shanghai" by the Municipal Council. Rencontre between Debussy and Du Liniang is the founding piece of Gu Jietings music theatre series1"FANTASIE. lts premier release is scheduled in fall 2016, following with international tours. Gu depicts the classic and the contemporary from an innovative perspective; breaking the boundary between the Oriental and the Western cultures, "I" FANTAISE encounters two distinguish form of performances.

    Neoclassic Electronic Music - Day and Night

    Day and Night is an electronic neo-classic music piece with multimedia and installation recomposed from the 24 Preludes, Op.28 by Chopin 24 motives taken from each of the 24 preludes carefully weaved into 24 minutes of blasting enjoyment. Discarding the original composing technique and inner structure of Chopins work, Day and Night follows the shifting time within one day. Starting from the midnight to dawn, noon, afternoon, dusk and coming back to the end of the day, the work will take you through the evolvement of modern music in the 21st century. Song SihengSong Siheng started to study piano when he was 3, then he went to Shanghai Concervatory until 20-years-old. After moving to Paris, he entered the Conservatoire de Pairs and began collecting many definitive prizes, such as Leeds, Dublin, and most importantly, the Grand Prize at the 2004 Long-Thibaud Piano Concours, making him the first Chinese to win this prestige competition. Since his victory in Paris, Song Siheng has toured extensively, working with Halle Orchestra, Radio philharmonic de Frace, Vienna radio symphony orchestra, Orchestra de Swiss Romande, New Japan philharmonic and so on. He is also the creator of Multimedia piano recital, making such as In search of Haruki Murakami, Blue, Chopin-Love, the 80s. He is also one of the youngest jury member of the international piano competition. B6LOU Nanli, best known by his stage name B6, is a multi-talented Electronic music pioneer, DJ, renowned designer, video and multi-media artist. He has started creating electronic music and sound art since 1999. His music works are critically acclaimed, such as B6 Box, Post Haze, My Post-Rock Yard and so on. He has been interviewed and featured by many renowned TV programs and magazines.

    Music Film - Sever

    Wrapped in an absurd and hyperbolical narrative, the music film revisits an ancient Chinese folk tale: Guan Yu beheaded Diao Chan. In this film adaptation, Guan Yu, the once proverbial historic hero in the Three Kingdom period, travels to the modern urban society and finds himself frustratingly debilitated day by day, while a modern thespian devoted to playing Diao Chan (a femme fatale in Guan Yus time), primps and preens herself for her performance, not knowing the tragic looms ahead. The two storylines are intertwined and eventually come to an end as Guan Yu severs Diao Chan on the stage, asymbolic scene with stark historical resemblance: back in the Three Kingdom period, Guan Yu killed Diao Chan for the sake of loyalty and justice. By juxtaposing this anachronism, this innovative rendition attempts to answer how we should reflect on our tradition. Zhu MaThe band Xi Baner was established by Zhu Ma. He is the composer, songwriter and the player of sanxian (a three-string plucked instrument) and danbura (a traditional Kazakhs plucked instruments) in the band. He combines traditional Chinese operas with other music elements to create a crossover music style. The band features cross-boundary music style and rich expression in minimum lyrics. This unique style has fulfilled the gap in the field of origin Chinese songs and meanwhile offers the Chinese people an opportunity to have the sense of belongings in this era of western music.

    Multi-media Theatre - Hear the Way in the Morning

    Is there some kind of emotional mood, which is shaking our faith and is going to destroy our mutual spiritual home? Is there some kind of extending culture, which will let us become completely irrational and will wreck the life that we painstakingly built up? Maybe there is no answer in the end; maybe everything is outside of the plan. Hear the Way in the Morning shows a brand new method of how we express ourselves on stage. The director rebuilt the relationship between audience and the theatre. The daily life of every audience and the play itself will combine with each other, and this connection is the most important part in this show. Ma JunfengMA Junfeng is a director in Shanghai Theatre Academy. He received a BFA in professional performance in Shenzhen University. He furthered his study at Shanghai Theatre Academy, where he received an MFA in directing. His recent works includes: Big Coffin Tiny Hole, That Guy, Love Debris of Shakespeares Work, Flowers of Evil, Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral, Richard III, Nothing and many other plays. His works were performed in Shanghai International Arts Festival, Beijing Fringe Festival, Shanghai International Experimental Theatre Festival, Macao City Fringe Festival, Shenzhen Fringe Festival and Singapore Chinese Theatre Festival. Wang LifuWang Lifu has been the leading singer and producer of The Samans since its establishment in 2006. He wrote the lyrics and songs and did the post-production for all four albums of the band. He also did scores for many TV programs including CCTV documentaries Guonian and Chinese Life 2015, and composed songs for The Voice of China Season 3. His band played an important role in many grand music festivals in China, such as Beijing Midi Music Festival 2014.He is the winner of Abilu.

    Chamber Opera - The Trio

    In his newly-rented apartment, a young man meets the middle-aged and elderly incarnation of himself. These personages are destitute and hopeless, both hoping to return to their youth and rewrite their destinies. Their shared inheritance becomes a point of dispute, and argument breaks out among them in which each party only think of their own benefit. The three of them have no other choice than to bring out their childhood self to help them make a decision, but their continued fighting fills the child with dread. The child cannot withstand the young mans expressions of anger and despair, so the boy jumps from a window, ending his life. The three men immediately vanish: with no "once upon a time", there can be no future. Tian TianTian Tian was born in Qingdao in 1987, and began studying music with his father at a young age. He is currently a PhD candidate under the guidance of well-known composer Professor Wenchen Qin at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM). His works have been performed in the Beijing Modern Music Festival, the Central Ballet Workshop, and the Plucked String Instrument Festival held by the CCOM. In 2013, his symphonic poem Ring on August won first prize in the Beijing Modern Music Festival Symphonic Music Grand Prix and the 4th Young Composer Project, and his ballet Jiwas recognized as an "Excellent Work" by the Ministry of Culture in 2012. In 2010, his chamber work Dhyana was part of the Chamber Music Project.

    Oratorio - Rubbish on the Square

    In the morning of October 1st 2013, the National Day of China, lakh of people from allover the country came to Tiananmen Square watching flag-raising ceremony in the rain. After the ceremony, about 5 tons of rubbish was left on the square. This situation was published on the website and became the hot topic nationwide. Oratorio "Rubbish on the Square is based on this event. lt is performed by 5soloists, mix chorus and a piano. The work not only shows the inflexion of the debate, but also describes lots of famous or nameless opinion leaders and central figures. The composer wants to call attentions to the "mob phenomenon - out of sense when flocking together through this work, at the same time he wants people to protect the environment and love our country rationally. Wen ZhanliWen Zhanli, is a composer living in Beijing. He was admitted to the composition department of China Conservatory in 1999 and studied composition with prof. WANG Ning. In 2006 he studied at Darmstadt International Summer Courses for Modern Music in Germany. In 2010, WEN attained doctors degree in China Conservatory and became a teacher there. From 2013 to 2015, he studied and was admitted to the sociology in Renmin University of China. ln 2015, he was selected in the first batch of Talent Pool of Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Artists of Beijing by Federation of Literary and Art Circles. WENs music has a variety of styles and genres. Many of his works were selected and premiered in national and international concerts and music festivals, some of them were recorded in the CD which was published and released in China and Europe. His works won the prize of music composition many times which is a governmental award conferred by the Ministry of Culture and Federation of Literary and Art Circle in China.

    Multi-media Music Theatre - 2o15

    2015 unfolds like an unfinished history book and tragicomedy in our life. On the other side of 2015, we have 2o15. These are two parallel universes where the same people and similar landscapes recur but develop in different ways. This work is based on scenarios of our daily life. Players, as normal citizens lead you through worlds of reality and imagination, conventional and alienated worlds. The boundary between the real world of 2015 and the virtual one of 2o15 will be broken at last, for both of them share peoples confusion, pain and love. Zhou DongZhou Dong is graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music (Department of Music Engineering). During her study of electroacoustic music composition, she focused much on those sound art forms which have multiple sound sources such as radio drama and soundscape composition. Influenced by these art forms, she tries to create different spaces and layers of sound to fully express her imagination of music. She won several prizes for her excellent achievements in this field, including the first prize of "Sound of Shanghai" Soundscape recording competition, the first prize of the Sound of World ringtones collection, Spark Award of the fourth film festivals in Macao and Second Prize of National Undergraduate Film Competition and the most potential animated short film by the Ninth Golden Monkey Cartoon Award in China.

    Symphony - Five Actions of Wu Kong

    The Monkey King embodies many contradictions, he was given the Buddhist name "Wu Kong(mneaning "to realize the void of senses"), he was doomed to a fate of struggling and fighting for freedom. We always say that deep in every Chinese soul, there lives a Monkey King, fighting for freedom as we define it ourselves, during our lifetime. The work Five Actions of Wu Kong reflects ones inner ambivalence, when it comes to freedom, fate and lifes journey. The five actions are constructed using a Chinese theatrical approach to tension and relaxation. The titles are as follows: Lento - the Purple Forest of Spirits; Presto - "There is a young lady on the road ahead!"; Andante - Monolog in the Moonlight; Largo - "Wear this metal head hoop, and you will be free"; Allegro - Eternal Battle Symphony Ochestra. Zhou JuanA native of Sichuan, grew up in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, Zhou Juan graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music (BA and MA) and University of Missouri - Kansas City (DMA). She is associate professor in music composition at the Central Conservatory. She was awarded the China Music Golden Bell Award,17th and 18th National Music Composition Award, ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, GEDOK Fuch-Award", and Staunton Music Festival Emerging Composer Award. She received commissions and has worked with China National Centre for the Performing Arts, Korean Traditional Arts Foundation, Beijing Peoples Art Theatre, Chongqing Peking Opera House, Chengdu Peking Opera Research Center, Alarm Will Sound, Nieuw Ensemble, Kansas City Chorale, Mizzou New Music Summer Festival, New Dramatists Composer-Librettist Studio, Virginia Arts Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Arts. Her major works include End of the Earth (orchestra), Far Far Away (orchestra), Before Curtain!(symphonic band), My Spiritual Garden (Uygur artists and chamber orchestra), Wu Kong (opera), Fate Makes a Choice (music theater), Golden Lock (Peking Opera incidental music), Sing by the River Flower (Peking Opera incidental music), Oedipus the King (musical play), Love Cantata, Wind (chorus a cappella), Second Language (jazz mixed combo) Water Your Memory (jazz band), Ming (large ensemble), Say "Bye"(large ensemble), Cycle of Life (song cycle), two string quartets, and many chamber works.

    Chamber Music - Hymm to the Fallen and Recessional

    Guo Shang and Li Hun are the last two chapters of Jiu Ge (Nine Songs), a poem selection from an ancient Chinese anthology of poems, Chu Ci(Songs of Chu), by Qu Yuan. In Jiu Ge (Nine Songs), Guo Shang shows the most lamenting emotion for the fallen soldiers and Li Hun is a short concluding hymn or recessional. The two-movement of chamber music works are taken from Guo Shang: Hymn to the Fallen and Li Hun: Recessional. The composer restore the Chinese ancestors perennial celebration of life and fear of the nature with skilled modern composing techniques. The Song cycle, Taking Leave of a Friend composed by Shen Yiwen will also be performed at the concert, which was commissioned by American soprano Dawn Upshaw and the Carnegie Hall. Shen YiwenShen Yiwen, a young composer and doctor of the Juilliard School. He won the silver award of the Chinese Golden Bell Award (the gold award is vacant), and both the third award and excellence award of the Chinese National Composi-tion Competitions, first prize from SCI/ASCAP Composition Commission, title of outstanding composers from American IBLA international competition, best band work and best chamber music work at Juilliard School. His works has been performed in Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Concert Hall, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and Lincoln Center for several times. Shen Yiwens music has been praised as a jaunty, vibrantly scored canvas" and "with a lucid, economical lyricism handed down by Barber and Rorem by The New York Times.

    Percussive Theatre Drifting

    The work Drifting, performed by six percussionists, demonstrates the relation between the individual and the group. The six voices (percussionists) represent six islands, drifting back and forth in the ocean. It also adds body language, whisper and recitation, representing mature thinking and interaction among individuals The trio interpreted by body language, the duo by vibraphone and marimba, another quintet by drums, these complex combinations of ensemble create all kinds of rich form of sonority, and subtlety changing color of each interpreter.This work is supported by the instrumental music department and percussion music department of shanghai conservatory of music. Tsai WenchiBorn in Taipei, Tsai Wenchi began her study of composition with Chiang Chia-chen. She then enrolled into the &Eacute;coleNormale de Musique de Paris in the class of the renowned Japanese composer, Yoshihisa Taira. In June 2006, she obtained her superior diploma of composition with the 1st prize. Upon graduation.she actively created and published works in both France and Taiwan, and Wen-chi was invited by the great saxophonist Nicolas Prost to compose Le foug&eacute;missant for the saxophone baritone. Her other works include Plongeurand Relation, the percussion duet Ombre, and Pluie du soirfor marimba and flute. Her works were performed at various music festivals in Paris, Lyon, and Avignon, and also on tour in Taipei, Hsinchu and Taoyuan . Tsai Wen-chi is currently a teacher of composition and music theory in the Central Conservatory of Music (Xiamen Branch) in China.

    Concept Concert - Me and TA

    Ta, Chinese for He/Her/lt. l and TA, is a kind of indescribable luxury. Ta is music, and friend. Ta is the necessity of music, and the encounter by chance. Ta is an unknown fortune. Ta is existed breathing, and the mark of life. Ta is a music journey with infinite possibilities. This will be a music concert with new force rising. The members of the band are currently the best musicians who all born after 1980s. It is a truly releasing concert in which cooperative album producers are invited by the guest performers. Chang ShileiChang Shilei was graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a songwrit-er and golden producer who belongs to the generation of 1980s. He has peculiar tone, strong control, with diversified creative and productive abilities. His masterpiece High Song, Brother, and Hawthorn Tree have been widely spread. He has created many songs and produced albums for Zhang Jie, MoMo Wu, Ivana Wong, Hins Cheung and many other famous singers. For the produc-tion of the album Gaia for Sandy Lam in 2013, he won the Best Arrangement Award and the Best Album Producer Award in the 24th Golden Melody Awards, and became the first musician in the mainland who won this award.

    Sinfonia Concertante for Anda Union and Orchestra - The Last of the Steppes

    In nine movements, The Last of the Steppes depicts the past, present, and future of the lnner Mongolian grasslands. The past is the nomadic life of Mongols, a culture built on relationships with domesticated animals as well as with wildlife: wolfs, eagles, gazelles, and more. The present is about the loss of the steppes; the human transition from protecting to threatening the grasslands through mining, agriculture, and urban development, leading to habitat destruction, desertification, and air pollution in the region, as well as a plea to "go home," a place strictly of the past. The future is uncertain. lt might be dystopian and devoid of anda, the Mongolian word for brotherhood and compassion, or it might be a chance for grasslands rebirth; the people who preserve the steppes today, then, are the heroes of tomorrow. Sam WuSam Wus music deals with the beauty in blurred boundaries. Many of his works center around extra-musical themes: architecture and urban planning, climate science and the search for exoplanets that host life. Selected for the American Composers Orchestras EarShot readings, winner of an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, Sam was also awarded First Prize at the Washington International Competition. Sams collaborations span five continents, most notably with the Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Sarasota Orchestras, the Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphonies, New York City Ballet, Sydney International Piano Competition, the Lontano, Parker, Argus, ETHEL and icarus Quartets, conductors Osmo V&auml;nsk&auml;, Case Scaglione, and Benjamin Northey, and sheng virtuoso Wu Wei. After growing up in Shanghai, Sam (b. 1995) received degrees from Harvard University and The Juilliard School, and is a DMA candidate in Composition at Rice Universitys Shepherd School of Music. His teachers include Tan Dun, Anthony Brandt, Pierre Jalbert, and Chaya Czernowin. Anda Union"Anda" in Mongolian mean sworn brothers. Anda Union Mongolian Ensemble was established in 2003. The 10members of the team are all from Aru Khorchin in Xilingol prairie, with an average age of less than 30. As the only domestic professional art groups of perfect combination of horse-headed fiddle, the Khomus and Humai singing, they won the first place of grand prix in aboriginal group in authority singing competition in 2006, the 12th CCTV young singer competition, and got fame since then. Anda Union Mongolian Ensemble is one of the most popular Chinese band in number of foreign tours.
