Restart the Journey（BeiJing）Oct.18th Shanghai Theatre Academy
Restart the Journey is a dance drama inspired by numerous mural paintings on the Chinese classic novel Journey to the West. Through the art of dancing in a specially designed stage setting of time and space, it represents from modern people’s visual perspectives the steadfast and perseverant image of the early Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang as depicted in the thousand-year-long mural paintings. Using dance body language, the drama shows how modern people will feel and react when they re-embark on the “Xuanzang journey” searching for life’s original purpose and going through the hardships. By narrating the story of Xuanzang returning to where he started the journey after having won great honor and respect with his footprints covering 110 countries, it praises Xuanzang’s unremitting persistence in his quest for truth and pursuit of the ideal from the perspective of modern people.
